Surrender
You can come and whisk me away whenever you want
and to wherever you like.
I will leave behind all that I have and come as I am.
I am yours.
I will try to not bother you, to not take up too much space in your home.
Just let me curl up somewhere, let me sleep in your arms with all my clothes on.
For I am past all that sharing of nakedness.
I want you to be with me when the ferryman comes
comes to take me across that river,
promise me you'll have a coin to pay him.
I will wait for you on the other side,
the way I've waited all these years
for you to come and claim me.
I do not fear this surrender, it was always meant to be.
Death, you are with me even as I live.
and to wherever you like.
